Andersen Royal Shopper Plus — Ortlieb Bag
When the Royal isn't wide enough. The Royal Shopper Plus takes the Royal's proven aluminium chassis and widens the track to 58 cm — Andersen's widest — paired here with the Ortlieb. 50 kg load capacity, two ball-bearing wheel options, and the same Type 1 Adaptor Bike n Easy compatibility. The Plus is what you choose when the regular Royal feels tippy under awkward loads.
Key features
58 cm track width — Andersen's widest, most stable under heavy or awkward loads

Compatibility
Choose the Royal Plus over the standard Royal when load stability matters more than compactness. The wider 58 cm track is noticeably steadier on cambered pavements and rougher ground. It's a fraction wider to manoeuvre through tight spaces — narrow supermarket aisles or revolving doors may need a bit more thought. Bike towing via the Type 1 Adaptor.
Attaching to a bicycle
This Shopper is compatible with Andersen's Bike n Easy attachment system, which lets you switch between pulling on foot and towing behind a bicycle in a few seconds.
Two components are needed: an adaptor on the Shopper (this frame takes the Type 1 Adaptor) and a coupling unit on the bicycle. The bike-side coupling depends on your bicycle's geometry:
Pull Easy — bikes with a rear luggage carrier
Easy Snap — alternative for rear-carrier bikes
Big Easy — bikes without a rear rack (mounts to seat strut)
The full breakdown with fitting guides and videos is on the Andersen Bike n Easy attachment guide.
Fitting & installation
The Andersen frame arrives fully assembled. The bag clicks onto the frame using the HängFix system (on Royal, Royal Plus, and Unus frames) or attaches via integrated straps (on Scala, Komfort, and Tura). Both are tool-free.
For bicycle attachment, see Compatibility above and the Andersen Bike n Easy guide for the full fitting walk-through, including PDFs and video tutorials per coupling. The Royal Shopper Plus user manual is available to download on this page.

FAQs
How does the Andersen × Ortlieb bag compare to using an actual Ortlieb pannier?
The waterproofing is the same — welded seams, roll-top closure, same fabric. What's different is the attachment. An Ortlieb cycling pannier uses Ortlieb's QL hook system designed for bike racks; the Andersen × Ortlieb collaboration bag uses Andersen's HängFix system for the Royal-family chassis. You can't swap them between systems. If you want one bag for both trolley and bike-pannier use, this isn't it — but for trolley use, you get genuine Ortlieb-grade waterproofing.
Why is the Ortlieb the most expensive bag on the Royal frame?
Two reasons — Ortlieb-grade waterproof construction is more expensive to manufacture than the water-resistant fabric used on bags like the Lissa or Hera, and the licensing arrangement with Ortlieb adds a premium. You're paying for the Ortlieb brand assurance and the actual dry-bag construction, which other Andersen bags don't have.
When should I choose the Royal Plus over the standard Royal?
Choose Plus if you regularly carry loads that shift (bottles, awkward boxes, pet supplies) or if you've found the standard Royal tippy on cambered pavements. Stick with the standard Royal if you want the broader wheel choice (six options versus two) or need to fit through narrower spaces.
Why does the Royal Plus only have two wheel options?
The Plus is positioned as the heavy-duty stability variant, so Andersen restricts it to the two most popular ball-bearing 25 cm wheels — whisper for noise-sensitive routes, pneumatic for rough ground. If you need the Double-Spoke, Metal-Spoke or 29 cm options, go with the standard Royal.
Who is the Royal Shopper Plus best suited for?
This is the recommended choice for professionals who need a stronger, more capable trolley or trailer for work as well as everyday errands. Ideal for photographers, market traders, musicians, handymen, repair technicians and local service providers, the Royal Shopper Plus offers a practical way to carry tools, equipment, stock or supplies by bike and on foot. With its larger, more robust frame and a choice of high-quality bags, it is a smart car-free alternative for professionals, avoiding parking stress and moving efficiently through town.
Hitch A Bike Expert Note
The Andersen × Ortlieb is HAB's most-stocked Andersen bag for good reason — customers who know Ortlieb specifically come looking for this combination. If you're in any doubt about whether to spend the extra on this versus the Andersen-own Hydro 3.0 (also waterproof), the deciding factors are: (1) the Ortlieb's reputation for keeping dry over multiple years of daily use is unmatched in the industry, and (2) the simpler bag without thermal or backpack features means fewer points of failure. The Hydro 3.0 does more; the Ortlieb does one thing — waterproof carry — to a higher standard.
