For smooth roads and paved cycle paths, a basic trailer may be sufficient. For compacted gravel, forest tracks and uneven surfaces, pneumatic tyres, good ground clearance and suspension greatly improve comfort and help reduce vibration.

We stock Croozer dog bike trailers & Doggy Tourer, both are suitable for gravel paths and approved for technical mountain-bike trails or off-road riding.

UK-compliant electric bikes can tow a dog trailer, provided the bicycle manufacturer permits trailer use and the correct hitch is fitted. E-bikes may require a replacement thru-axle, axle-nut adapter or specialist fitting.

Hub-motor e-bikes need particular care because the rear axle may be thicker or have limited exposed thread. If you are not sure, contact us & confirm the model, year, axle diameter, thread pitch and axle length.

It depends on the model. The dog trailers we currently stock carry dogs up to around 30kg. Measure your dog standing and lying down, and check both the weight limit and the internal dimensions, a trailer that fits the weight may still be tight on length.

A well engineered trailer can transport a dog safely when it is correctly attached and used within its limits. Before every ride, check the hitch, secondary safety strap, wheels, tyres, frame locks and all doors or covers.

Take corners slowly and avoid sudden steering movements, steep kerbs and riding with one trailer wheel over an obstacle. A dog changing position can shift the centre of gravity, particularly during fast or tight turns. Practise first in a traffic free area with a stable load similar to your dog’s weight.

A dog bike trailer keeps your dog low, stable and enclosed, with ventilation and a secure internal tether. Many dog trailers also convert to a stroller, useful for older or recovering dogs.

Use the trailer’s internal tether or fastening system and attach it to a correctly fitted body harness rather than a neck collar. The tether should allow your dog to sit and lie down, but not jump out, lean excessively from the cabin or reach the wheels.

Close all entry panels before moving and keep loose leads and toys away from moving parts. Never leave your dog unattended inside the trailer.
